How our BJJ guides use sources, disclose AI assistance and specialist reviews, and handle commercial interests.
Questions from real readers
Public community discussions can help us identify questions about starting BJJ and choosing a gym. We paraphrase the question and link to the discussion in our research records. We do not treat Reddit comments as medical evidence, copy personal stories, or automatically post promotional replies.
Evidence and practical value
New and substantially revised guides include a direct answer, scope, sources, limitations and a practical contribution such as a checklist or decision tool. We prefer official rules, primary research and documented observations. We distinguish a study result from our interpretation and do not promise that BJJ is safe for a particular person.
Authors and specialist review
Reviewed content names the reviewer, relevant credentials and review date. Our specialist workflow requires qualified medical review for health topics and relevant safeguarding review for children's topics; research requires documented rights and methods. The owner authorized publication of the initial injury, tapping and parent guides and routine new educational posts with visible not-independently-expert-reviewed disclosures, AI assistance and author-reported practitioner experience. This is publication authorization, not a claim that the owner personally reviewed each automated draft or that an independent specialist approved it. The recurring program excludes health, child-safety, legal/commercial advice and original research without their additional checks. Existing guides that predate this policy are being reviewed and may not yet meet every part of it.
AI assistance
AI may help us find questions, structure a guide and prepare a draft. We require sources for factual claims and recorded editorial approval before a new or revised guide is released. AI-generated prose and automated checks do not constitute a human or specialist review.
Commercial relationships
Commercial involvement must be disclosed on the affected page. Product recommendations must explain selection methods and whether hands-on testing occurred. A paid relationship must not be represented as independent verification or expert approval. A directory link is not a recommendation to buy a membership.
Dates and corrections
First-publication dates are preserved when articles are rewritten. Modified dates change when the substance changes. Corrections can be submitted through the contact page; see our corrections policy for the review process.
